Acadian Driftwood

This liquor-forward Scotch cocktail encapsulates Acadian-inspired flavours including maple whiskey and a balsam-fir syrup, creating a perfectly balanced drink with forest-y feel. It’s best sipped fireside on a cold winter night.

Makes 1 drink

1 1⁄2 oz smoky scotch, such as Laphroaig

3⁄4 oz Sortilege Maple Whiskey Liqueur

1⁄2 oz sweet vermouth

1⁄4 oz Balsam Fir Syrup

1 tsp (5 mL) green Chartreuse

1 dash Bittered Sling Moondog Bitters

1 dash orange bitters

Lemon twist for garnish

Place all ingredients (except garnish) in a mixing glass or tin. Top with ice. Stir until chilled. Strain into chilled coupe glass. Gently brush lemon twist along rim of the glass. Cut a small slit in twist then use to garnish drink.

Kale & Nori is a British Columbia-based boutique culinary company and the creator of the Bittered Sling Moondog Bitters among others. If you can’t get your hands on Moondog or orange bitters, use 2 dashes of angostura instead.
